Hemenway House, 1883 Built by Roberts and Hoare, this image of the Hemenway Cottage on Bellyache Cove captures many of the elements of Shingle Style design. Hemenway House Many of the great summer cottages were demolished and replaced by simple pre-fabricated weekend retreats. This great house had significant deterioration but fortunately was not torn down. Working with an informed client we restored the house to its former grandeur. Hemenway House Successful preservation projects require a client who appreciates the significance of the architecture. With their collaboration this home was beautifully restored.
