Beach Club This club was built in an era when most New Englanders swam in the Atlantic Ocean. Beach Club The original buildings were nothing more than a pavilion with a few men’s and women’s locker rooms on each side. Beach Club Eating facilities were minimal and people dined informally outdoors. Beach Club Without sports facilities, food service was important to its future growth. A new state-of-the-art kitchen was constructed as well as a club room and large dining porches. Beach Club A new and expanded men’s locker room was built Beach Club and the women’s locker room was substantially upgraded. Beach Club A snack bar with an informal dining area was constructed to accommodate young families that joined the club to use the beach. Beach Club When swimming pools became fashionable, this small seaside club went into disrepair. Beach Club Stephen R. Holt, Architects was hired when a few loyal members decided to upgrade the club according to contemporary standards without compromising its classic simplicity. Beach Club Indigenous landscaping and new beach access walkways were designed and installed along with discreet parking and lighting. |
